Premium AEROTEC commences its production for the A330neo

Aerostructures supplier Premium AEROTEC started manufacturing of parts for the first A330neo. Airbus COO Tom Williams witnessed the first metal cut at the company’s plant in Varel in Northern Germany. Together with further parts, the now commenced aluminium frame will form a door frame for the new Airbus long-range airliner.

Premium AEROTEC is a major partner for the A330neo, as it is for the current version of the A330. The company provides Airbus with large parts of the aircraft’s fuselage and improved them in order to support the efficiency enhancements for this next-generation airliner. The re-design of parts resulted in a weight reduction of more than 100 kilogramme for the entire Premium AEROTEC work share. In addition to that, an intensified communality of the parts allows for a more efficient production.

For the A330neo, Premium AEROTEC modified the front and rear fuselage for both -800 and -900 wherever necessary to ensure weight saving and prepare its structure for the aircraft's new engines. Beyond that, Premium AEROTEC is in charge of the flap tracks and produces further components according to Airbus' designs (built-to-print).

Premium AEROTEC’s contribution to the A330neo results from efforts all across the company’s sites in Germany. The design work was mainly executed by the company’s engineering team in Bremen in close cooperation with industrialisation experts at the respective production sites. In line with today’s A330 programme, the Nordenham plant delivers large parts of the front fuselage. In addition to that, rear fuselage shells are produced there. Premium AEROTEC’s Varel plant provides machined parts and subassemblies. The rear fuselage section 19, various fuselage shells and the floor grid are made at the company’s site in Augsburg.


Premium AEROTEC generated revenues of around 1.9 billion euros in 2014. The company’s core business lies in the development and production of metal and carbon fibre composite aircraft structures. The company has manufacturing sites in Augsburg, Bremen, Nordenham and Varel in Germany, as well as in Braşov in Romania.
