Kai Horten (46) has been a member of the management board of
Atlas Elektronik since August 2006, where he is responsible for the segments Submarine Systems, Naval Weapons, Vessel Systems, Coastal Surveillance Systems, Business Development and Marketing, as well as Services and Communications.
“His high degree of international experience, both in high-tech industries and within the EADS Group, position Kai Horten very well for this function,” said Günter Butschek, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of
Premium AEROTEC. “We are convinced that under his leadership
Premium AEROTEC will continue on its path of successful growth as the largest specialist for both commercial and military aerostructures.”
Premium AEROTEC’s Supervisory Board was unanimous in its decision to appoint Kai Horten as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This brings to an end the period of many months during which the post has been unfilled following Hans Lonsinger’s illness last year. In the interim Joachim Nägele, Director of Programs and Sales, has been spokesman of the management board.
“From the start, Hans Lonsinger left his mark on Premium AEROTEC like no other,” said Butschek. “He showed empathy and a great deal of personal commitment in bringing the former Airbus and EADS plants together to form a single corporate entity. At the same time, he put in place major elements of the company’s strategy with a view to its international presence, competitiveness and the setup of the new site in Romania. The advances that were achieved through integrating the company and strengthening the carbon fibre technology form a solid foundation upon which we can build in future.”
Butschek also thanked the interim spokesman, Joachim Nägele, for his support in this particular situation. “He took on the additional duties as primus inter pares with great commitment and carried them out to great effect, for which we are very grateful. Now, against the backdrop of a ramp-up of all Airbus programs, the ever-growing importance of Programs once again requires his undivided attention.”
Premium AEROTEC GmbH has more than 7,000 employees and generated revenues of about 1.3 billion euros in 2010. Its core business is the development and manufacturing of metal and carbon composite aerostructures and the associated equipment and production systems. The company has production plants in Augsburg, Bremen, Nordenham and Varel in Germany, and in Ghimbav, Braşov County, Romania.
